How much time does the design and installation process take?
For many projects, our Landscape Architects and Designers are able to complete the design and estimating process within a week or two of the initial contact with Meadows Farms. From the day a contract is signed, a typical planting installation will begin within two to three weeks. Some patios, walks, walls, and decks may take a bit longer if permits or special order materials are needed.
What is the cost for a landscape design?
We do not typically charge for our designs. However, our business is design and installation, so our designers will rarely draw a landscape plan if you are not considering installation. We have a free design service in many of our garden centers in the Spring and Fall to serve do-it-yourselfers.
When will the designer be able to meet me?
Our designers work a very flexible schedule to accomodate your schedule. They often work evenings and weekends, although usually only during daylight hours.
What is the difference in qualifications between Landscape Architects and Landscape Designers?
Landscape Architects have a degree in Landscape Architecture, and often state certifications, while Landscape Designers are not required to have a degree, though many have horticulture or landscape design degrees. Meadows Farms employs both, and we are very confident in the ability of each to handle any design challenge.
Can I get an estimate over the phone?
In most cases our office staff will not be able to give a phone estimate, so they will refer one of our designers to call you. In some cases a designer will be able to give a basic cost estimate without a visit, but most landscape projects require the designer to visit.
Can I do my landscaping in phases?
We have many clients who add to their landscpe every year. Our designer can discuss how to set priorities for work to be done immediately as well as for future phases.
Do you have a minimum contract?
We have a $1000 minmum for landscape installations, but our Grounds Maintenance department has no minimum in the northern Virginia area.
