CINNAMON BASIL                                                                DARK OPAL BASIL 

Description:

The leaves contain cinnamate, the same chemical that gives cinnamon its flavor. Leaves are small to medium sized.  An excellent companion plant for tomatoes- keeps mites and aphids away.

Growth:

To height of 3’

Culinary, Dried Arrangements

Suggestions:

The combination of basil and cinnamon flavors make cinnamon basil popular for use in hot drinks like teas and with fruits.

            

Description:

With its deep purple leaves, it is grown as much for its decorative appeal as for its culinary value. Keep pinched for fuller growth.

ITALIAN LARGE LEAF BASIL                                          LEMON BASIL

Description:

Basil makes a superb container plant. White flowers should be pinched back to prolong leaf production.

Culinary, Fragrant Ornamental

Suggestions:

With its strong citrus flavor, it makes a good substitute for lemon in most recipes. Goes well with seafood and chicken. Can be used in pesto recipes for a different pesto experience.  Also an interesting substitute for regular basil in basil jelly. Goes well with potatoes.

NAPOLETANO BASIL                                                                       THAI BASIL

Description:

A must-have if you like Thai foods, this basil has a strng, spicy flavor. The plant and leaves are smaller than Italian basil and it really requires heat. Also very attractive, with green leaves, bronze stems, and pink blossoms. A beautiful plant with an enticing aroma. Keep it pinched to keep it producing.

Suggestions:

Wonderful additions to curries, stir-fries, chicken salad, grilled fish & poultry dishes, with tomato-based dishes like pizza and lasagna, as garnishes, in marinades, is salads, jellies.

Huge dark green leaves offer a luscious aroma and flavor.  White flowers should be pinched back. Heirloom!
