Description:

A relative of the nasturtium. Fast-growing, semi-aquatic plants, and one of the oldest known leaf vegetables consumed by humans. High in iron, calcium, iodine, folic acid, vitamins A & C.

Growth:

Can grow 1-2’ tall if left unharvested

Light:

Full sun

Hardiness:

Perennial in zones 2-9

Uses:

Culinary, Medicinal

Suggestions:

Delicious and vitamin rich, it’s a great addition to gourmet salads and sandwiches. Harvest & use before plant starts producing flowers, as leaves turn bitter. Used to prevent scurvy. Studies show that consumption of watercress may inhibit the growth of breast & lung cancer.
