Here we are in the \u201cDogs Days of Summer\u201d. It is hot. It is humid. And, it can be dry. Like us, plants too can struggle under these conditions. But, perennials that are over-crowded can be under more stress. Sometimes dividing perennials is needed in order to revive their performance and improve their health and longevity. I know this blog is on dividing perennials. Just keep in mind that not all perennials need to be divided.<\/p>\n
Some of the more popular perennials that can benefit from being divided are Peonies, Daylilies, Hostas, Coreopsis, Rudbeckia, and others.<\/p>\n
So far I have given you the \u201cwhen\u201d and the \u201cwhy\u201d with dividing perennials. Here are other good reasons for dividing your perennials now:<\/p>\n
More often than not dividing perennials is just the improvement your plants need for rejuvenation.<\/p>\n
When planting the newly divided perennials, think about adding ESPOMA BIO-TONE in the hole. Bio-Tone is a root stimulator. What you do is sprinkle Bio-Tone in the hole so that it comes into direct contact with the roots of the perennials. Bio-Tone is a wonderful product.<\/p>\n
TIP: When buying new perennials this fall\u2014look at the perennial while still in the pot. Many of these perennials can be divided right away. So, instead of getting one plant\u2014you can get two or three plants after dividing. This is quite a savings if you think about it.<\/p>\n
