We’re settling into summer at Meadows Farms Frederick. Now is the time to take a breath from the craziness of spring and get to all the little things we haven’t had a chance to do since the weather got nice. Over the next few weeks, we will be taking some time to clean our entire nursery. We will prune and fertilize every plant, get everything spaced out, and get everything into its home for the summer.
We will stay fully stocked all summer long. We will still bring in fresh perennials and annuals every week, and we will keep our outdoor area stocked with landscape plants to complete any size project. Our greenhouse will be full of color, and we will bring in fresh houseplants as needed throughout the summer!
Summer is still a great time to plant—you just have to keep up with the watering! It’s a great time to add some color to your landscape or to give your planters some extra “POP” with some annuals. We will have many heat—and drought-tolerant varieties available all summer long. If your hanging baskets are looking a little tired, we will still have “summer” varieties available like Lantana, Vinca, and Portulaca.
We will keep our perennial tables full of blooming varieties all summer. If your spring flowering perennials aren’t as showy as they were, we will have plenty of summer flowering plants available to add some life to your gardens. We will also keep stocking our “American Beauties” line of native plants to help you keep planting pollinator-friendly varieties.
As usual, our outdoor area will be filled with trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and screening plants. We still have lots of evergreens available to suit any need. Many of our deciduous flowering shrubs are just starting to come into their peak season and look great, and we have many native varieties available. Our hydrangea selection is HUGE, and they will be showing color for the rest of the summer.
Water plants are BACK! We haven’t carried many water plants for the last few years but have stocked our full line again. Stop in and check out our new display, which includes our water lilies, hyacinths, reeds, floating gardens, and much more.
We will be here all season long to answer any gardening questions you may have or offer knowledgeable advice for any problems you may be experiencing. Be sure to stop by and see what summer has to offer at Meadows Farms.
