June Gardening Checklist

SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE LATER THIS MONTH & WE HAVE PLENTY OF CHORES TO DO THIS MONTH

Now that June is here remember that gardening is a year-round hobby, and certain gardening chores must be done each month.

  • June has been tagged as PERENNIAL GARDENING MONTH by the Perennial Plant Association. The main reason behind selecting June is that June is an excellent month for seeing so many beautiful perennials in bloom. June is a great planting month for perennials.
  • If you have a warm-season lawn with Bermuda or Zoyias, then June is a month to feed your lawn.
  • As we warm up more, just be sure to check for watering of all your plants—especially container gardens & hanging baskets.
  • Speaking of watering—don’t lose sight of using good watering habits when gardening. Water early in the morning to reduce evaporation. Use soaker hoses in flower and vegetable gardens. BE WATER-WISE!
  • The number one reason for herbs to die is over-watering. Herbs like to dry between waterings. Herbs like a lot of sunlight and well-draining soil.
  • Add a birdbath to your garden for our feathered friends. Keep the water fresh by adding fresh water frequently.
  • Our beloved hummingbirds are here. Consider adding a hummingbird feeder to your garden area.

Let’s make June a productive gardening month. Your gardens will benefit from all your efforts.

PLANT A LITTLE HAPPINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
